Process is not always a linear progression through time, erasing previous iterations. Repainting features two short series, a set of paintings and a set of prints through which I explore themes of permanence and impermanence in the artistic process.
In this series, I sought to explore the medium of etching and the process of printing by printing each state of the copper plate. However, unlike documenting the stages of painting, where the history becomes invisible, the medium of printing allows for a ghost paradox to take place. e reworked copper plate, a source of modularity, can no longer recreate these prints, rendering both the substrate and the print permanent representations of a past state.
