Created a strong and aesthetically pleasing wooden frame without glue.
Collaborators: Charlotte D’Acierno, Jefferey Huang
Role: Designed the interlocking mechanism and managed time for the group to ensure it's completion.
Timeline: 1 week
Approach: Inspired by Japanese joinery, this simple frame contains three interlocking parts, with the two arms slotting into one another and a lateral insert to stabilize the joint against vertical and horizontal force.
Conclusion: Tested to failure. Force applied to one corner (through an energetic and sudden encounter with the floor) sheared the poplar corner opposite, breaking the frame.
